Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested two suspected members of the banned militant group, Ansar Al Islam, with extremist books and leaflets from the Monirampur upazila on Saturday.
Acting on a tip-off, a special squad of RAB 6 Jessore camp conducted drive at the house of one Md Delwar Hossain, where members of banned militant outfit were holding a secret meeting.
The elite force arrested Md Raihan Uddin, 19, and Md Abu Bakar Siddiq, 22, of village Chinatola of the upazila along with a huge number of extremist books, leaflets and details regarding their action plan.
RAB 6 Jessore camp Officer-in-Charge ASP Shahinur Islam said the accused were engaged in collecting money and members from various areas of Monirampur. Besides, they also fix places for holding secret meetings with elite members of Jessore district.
Meanwhile, the arrestees were handed over to Monirampur police station after interrogation.
A case was lodged with local police station in this connection.
