Abdul Halim Dulal, father of slain Rifat Sharif, has demanded the arrest of his daughter-in-law Ayesha Siddiqa Minni for her alleged involvement in the murder.
Holding a press conference at Barguna Press Club on Saturday, Rifat's father claimed that Ayesha was involved in the killing.
Indicating the new video footage which was circulated on the social media recently, he said: "Ayesha was seen reluctant when Rifat was attacked by the criminals and I believe she was involved in the killing.
"When Rifat was strained with blood, she did not show any attempt to save him even to take him to a hospital," he said.
Abdul Halim Sharif also questioned why Ayesha did not accompany Rifat when he was being taken to Barisal in an ambulance.
"Ayesha used to go to college alone. On the day of Rifat's murder, she phoned him to go to her to the college. And later he was hacked to death by Nayan Bond in front of the college," he told the press conference.
"Minni hid marrying Nayan Bond, the main accused of the Rifat murder. Her family also lied about this. She married Rifat without parting away from Nayan. She kept a close contact with Nayan even after marrying Rifat."
When asked about if the press conference may hamper the ongoing investigation, he said: "I am holding this press conference out of my own consciousness, demanding justice for my son."
Rifat Sharif, 22, was hacked to death by criminals in broad daylight in the district town on June 26. The incident was caught on surveillance cameras.
Police so far arrested 13 people in connection with the murder. On July 2, Nayan Bond, the main accused of the case, was killed in an alleged gunfight with police.
Till now, six of the accused have been remand and seven of the others have confessed to their involvement in the murder.
On June 27, Rifat's father, Dulal Sharif, filed a case with the Barguna Sadar police station on June 27, accusing 12 people.
