Joy: Digitalization significantly curbed corruption

Corruption has significantly decreased as a result of Bangladesh’s digitalization, prime minister’s ICT Affairs Adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy said.

He made the statement during a workshop organized by the Parliament Secretariat on Wednesday.

Joy, also the son of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, said: “In such a short span of time, very few countries, apart from Bangladesh, have been able to become digital in different ways.” 

He continued that the government has already launched e-government services, and soon 5G network will be made available in Bangladesh.

While announcing a new guideline for the telecom sector, he said: “In order to take the country to the pinnacle of economic prosperity, we must bring changes to our thought process in addition to revising the laws.”

He further said a digital Bangladesh will make its mark in the world through innovation.

Emphasizing on importance of education, he said: “Today’s youth must be moulded through proper education in order to be accepted in a competitive world outside.”

He also hoped that these youths will represent a digital Bangladesh in future in the global arena.
