Police: Infighting killed youth in Jessore

Police have recovered the body of a youth, who they claimed had fled from custody on April 5.
The deceased, Rajib, 29, is the son of Mohor Ali Driver of Kholadanga Dakkhinpara. His mother claimed that he had been picked up by plainclothes police on April 3.
She identified the body at Jessore General Hospital Saturday afternoon.
Kotwali police Officer-in-Charge AKM Azmal Huda said that Rajib, who had 10 cases filed over murder and drugs business, had fled from police custody after slipping out of a pair of handcuffs on April 5.
Police found his body in the town's Kholadanga area around 4am Saturday.
“We sent a team to the area after learning that two groups of criminals were engaged in a gunfight. The criminals fled the scene when the police arrived.
“The body was found lying on the road. He was shot in the head. We took him to the hospital,” the OC said, adding that they also recovered a revolver, one round of bullet, five improvised bombs, two machetes and a meat cleaver from the site.
Duty doctor Kallol Kumar Saha said that the man had died before he was brought there.
