At least eight hundred families are living in land-slide prone areas in nine upazilas of Khagrachhari due to persistent rainfall for the last three days in the district since Friday.
To mitigate casualties from this recurring disaster, authorities conducted drives in the Sadar upazila on Monday afternoon and public announcements were made to inform the locals, said Deputy Commissioner Md Shahidul Islam.
He added that nine shelters and several rescue teams are prepared to come in aid of the locals.
Dighinala Upazila Parishad Chairman Abul Kashem said: "Due to heavy rain, road communication between the Khagrachhari and Langdu upazilas in Rangamati has been disrupted."
