Rape of 12 madrasa students: Maulana Al-Amin on remand for five days

The court has granted a five-day remand to madrasa principal Maulana Al Amin, who is accused of raping, and sexually harassing twelve students in Fatullah of Narayanganj.

Senior Judicial Magistrate Kawsar Alam granted the five day remand on Sunday when the police produced him before the court, and prayed for a 10-day remand under the Digital Security Act, and the Pornography Control Act.

Narayanganj court Inspector Habibur Rahman confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.

Habibur Rahman said: "The accused will be presented in court again for another remand prayer when the five day remand is over. Depositions of four students have already been taken in this case. Seized laptop, and mobile phone of the accused are now being investigated."

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested the founder and principal of Baitul Huda Cadet Madrasah from Fatullah in Narayanganj Sadar upazila on Thursday, after receiving complaints from various students, and guardians. A student's mother filed a case in this matter as the plaintiff, under the Woman and Children Repression Act, and the RAB also filed a case under Pornography Control and Digital Security Acts as plaintiff. Later, Al-Amin was produced before the court, and a ten day remand was sought.
