Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested a man for gang raping a sixth grader from Bayezid Bostami area, Moulvibazar on Monday.
According to sources, Rabbi, 28 and Jahid Mia, 30, were on the run from a case filed under Woman and Children Repression Prevention Act. Acting on the case, RAB and police collaboratively conducted several drives, and arrested Rabbi.
Moulvibazar Sadar police station Sub-Inspector Emran Hossain said: “We are investigating the incident. We will send him to court on Tuesday, and ask the court for a 5-day remand. We are trying to arrest the other accused Jahid.”
According to the case statement, apprehended Rabbi and absconding Jahid Mia sneaked into the house of the girl, tied up her grandmother who was sleeping beside her, and raped the girl. They fled the scene after gang raping, and leaving the girl unconscious.
Later the girl was taken to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital, and elements of rape were found in her medical reports.
The mother of the girl filed a case accusing the two.
Locals said, influential people are threatening the family to withdraw the case, and trying to cover up the incident.
