Nationwide Vitamin ‘A’ plus campaign on June 22

The national Vitamin ‘A’ plus campaign will be observed across Bangladesh on June 22, aiming to feed Vitamin A plus capsules to all children  between six and fifty-nine months of age.

Children aged between six to eleven months will be fed one blue color Vitamin-A capsule, while babies aged between 12 to 59 months would be fed red colored capsules for the campaign from 8am to 4pm on the day, an official release said, reports BSS.

Night blindness has come down to 0.04% of the child population, with the regular distribution of Vitamin A-plus capsules.

The government’s target is to bring down the rate of children’s night-blindness to 0%.

Health experts said feeding Vitamin-A capsules not only keeps children safe from night-blindness, but also strengthens their immune system, keeping their eyesight perfect, bringing down the child mortality rate, and ensures their normal growth.
