A housewife has been killed in Kararchar in Shibpur of Narsingdi.
Nazma Begum, 25, hailed from Raipur upazila in Narsingdi. Police recovered her throat-slit body from her room—in the house she rented in Kararchar—on Friday morning, Sub-Inspector of Shibpur police station, Anwar Hossain, confirmed.
Her husband, Nazrul Islam, has been absconding since the incident. They have an eight-month-old daughter.
According to police and locals, a month ago, Nazma and her husband—who works in a garments factory in Tongi's BSCIC area—rented a room in Kararchar.
On Friday morning, neighbours heard their eight-month-old daughter's scream and rushed to their room, to find Nazma's throat-slit body inside. Upon notifying the police, police arrived and recovered the body.
Police suspect Nazrul absconded sometime on Thursday night after killing his wife.
The sub-inspector said: "We think the murder was committed due to family problems. We are working to determine the actual reason and arrest the culprit."
