Ferry service along the Shimulia-Kathalbari river route resumes after a brief 20-minute stoppage due to rough weather.
Munshiganj’s Lowhojong Upazilla Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Kabirul Islam confirmed the news.
Kabirul said: “Ferry operation was not suspended for too long. It was a brief stop in the progress of traffic movement due to a sudden rough water situation. Ferries loaded with vehicles remained at the docks.”
“The ferry services resumed when the weather conditions improved,” he added.
On Tuesday, authorities suspended the operation of ferry, launch and speedboat services along the waterway from 9:40 am, following the sudden onset of gusty winds in Shimulia and strong currents in the Padma river, said Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation’s (BIWTC) Traffic Inspector (TI) Mohammad Suleman.
