A Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officer and a jail superintendent's driver have been arrested with drugs by Detective Branch (DB) police.
Acting on a tip-off, Detective Tohurul Islam and car driver, Firoz Kabir were arrested, on Wednesday, by DB police superintendent Shopon Miah in Lalmonirhat sadar upazila.
"Based on inside information, Tohurul Islam and Firoz Kabir were arrested with drugs in Borobari Bazar. During primary interrogation, both admitted this to the prison guards of Lalmonirhat district prison," Lalmonirhat DB police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mokbul Hossain said.
Later, police discovered that Tohurul Islam is a member of the CID and Firoz Kabir used to be jail superintendent Kishore Kumar Nag's driver, he said.
"I have received news that two prison workers were arrested with yaba and phensedyl," SI Kishore Kumar Nag said over the phone.
A case has been filed against both the prison workers, Lalmonirhat Superintendent S M Roshidul Haque said.
