The Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested a madrasa teacher, accused in a case filed for raping a seventh-grader in Banshkhali upazila of Chittagong.
Acting on a tip-off, a RAB team detained the madrasa teacher identified as Md Foyzullah, 20, from Shilkup union of Banshkhali upazila, early Tuesday. According to Rab-7, the madrasa teacher raped the girl while tutoring her privately in the madrasa on April 24.
When the student did not return home in time, the victim's aunt and mother went to the madrasa. Upon seeing them, the student burst into tears. When asked why she was crying, the victim said the teacher raped her, shutting the windows and door of the madrasa.
The victim's family went to court seeking justice. The court sent the victim to Chittagong medical College Hospital for medical tests which established evidence of rape.
On May 1, the victim's mother lodged a case against the madrasa teacher with Banshkhali police station under the Women and Child Repression Prevention Act .
RAB launched an investigation into the incident and detained the accused rapist. Masuqur Rahman, Assistant Director (Media) of Rab-7 said legal measures were underway against the accused.
