A woman allegedly committed suicide in her rented apartment near Goshala temple in Sirajganj city on Monday.
The deceased, Priyanka Saha, 27, recently completed her master’s degree from the Faculty of Theatre at Rajshahi University.
Quoting family members, Sirajganj Sadar police station Sub-Inspector Mehedi Hasan said: “Priyanka was the second among three sisters; the other two are married. On her birthday on Monday, her family was discussing her marriage, during which she got emotional and locked herself in her room. Family members found her body hanging from the ceiling the next morning.”
On getting information, police recovered her body on Tuesday.
Police handed over the body to the family after an autopsy was completed at the Sheikh Fazilatunnessa Mujib General Hospital morgue in the afternoon.
Family members and neighbours have been shocked by her death.
