Bangladeshi businessman shot dead in South Africa

A Bangladeshi businessman was gunned down by miscreants in his shop in Regents Park Estate, a suburb of Johannesburg in South Africa on Sunday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Rezaul Karim, a resident of Haripur village of the Chhagalnaiya upazila of the district.

Rezaul’s friend Nurul Alam, from South Africa said that Rezaul with his brother-in-law Abul Hossain went to Johannesburg one year ago to run a food shop there.

Around 4pm, the current local time of Johannesburg, miscreants tried to rob the shop.  

They used pepper spray when the  security guard protested.

The miscreants gunned down Rezaul as he came out from inside the shop during the incident.

Chhagalnaiya municipality mayor Md Mostofa visited Rezaul’s house on Monday morning and consoled the grieved family members.

Chhagalnaiya police station Officer-in-Charge Mahbub Morshed said he had known about the incident from the victim’s family members.
