Cycle and motorcycle rally on Independence Day

Dhaka city witnessed a colourful procession of people of different ages and areas moving in lines with their bicycles and motorcycles on the occasion of 47th Independence Day. BDCyclists, a community of cyclists, organised the road show in the morning while KB Riders, a motorcycle riders’ community, organised the motorcade in association with ACI Motors Ltd in the afternoon. The procession of bicycle riders returned to Manik Mia Avenue, from where it started, cycling through Mirpur road, Nilkhet and Kalabagan. On the other hand the motorcade started from Jatiya Sangsad and ended at 300 feet road at Purbachal sector 13. Muntaheen, a nine-year-old, who participated in BDCyclists’ procession said: “My father brought me here. I am having fun.” “I want my child to have a soft corner in his heart for this country and its people. He will mix up with different people here in this procession. It is a gathering of people who are celebrating Independence Day with warm hearts,” Muhammad Zahedul Islam, the nine-year-old kid’s father said. Rabiul Haque, marketing manager of ACI Motors Ltd, said they arranged the motorcade to increase the safety concerns among mass people as its tagline was “Use Helmet Ride Safe”. “We want to create a world record of 5000 bikers singing national anthem together on December 16.  At present Mexico holds the record with 4400 bikers singing their national anthem together,” Rabiul expresses his vision.
