Another accused in the gang-rape of a 35-year-old mother of six, in Charjubli union under Subarnachar upazila of Noakhali, has surrendered.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Char Jabbar police station—also the investigation officer in the gang-rape case—Ibrahim Khalil said: "Md Helal alias Ripon, has surrendered in front of a court on Thursday."
According to court sources, Ripon surrendered before the cognizance court of senior Justice Nobonita Guha, around 3pm Thursday.

The judge denied his bail plea and sent him to jail.
Previously, on April 3, prime accused Abul Kalam alias Bechu Majhi, 35, also surrendered before the same court.
With Ripon's arrest, a total of seven accused are now behind bars. Police have arrested five accused while the rest of them have surrendered.
The mother of six was allegedly gang-raped on Sunday evening, and her husband was beaten up, for their perceived offence of voting for a different candidate in the upazila polls.

The victim's husband had filed a case with Char Jabbar Police Station on Monday, accusing 12 people, including four unnamed individuals.
The April 1 rape is the third notorious gang-rape to have taken place in Noakhali’s Subarnachar upazila. Another woman was gang-raped on December 30 after she voted for a BNP candidate. On January 31, a 13-year-old girl was also gang-raped in the same area.
