A 20-year-old was arrested after he was caught desecrating the idol in a Kali temple in Jhenaidah on Thursday.
The incident took place in Shailkupa’s Kirtinagar.
According to the police, Sohan Hossain, an HSC candidate, broke the lock to the temple on Thursday afternoon and began to smash the idol inside. Locals heard the commotion and detained him before handing him over to the police.
Kazi Ayubur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Shailkupa police station, confirmed the incident.
