Tangail woman’s body exhumed 4 months after death

A woman’s body was exhumed from her family graveyard in Tangail four months after her death on Wednesday following a court order.

A Tangail court passed the order to conduct a second autopsy of Kamrunnahar Eti, as the first autopsy report mentioned the death as suicide.

Her father Abdul Kuddus had moved the court seeking the second autopsy, said Madhupur police station OC Shafikul Islam.

She was pregnant and died under mysterious circumstance at the district’s Dhanbari upazila four months ago.

According to police, Kamrunnahar of Bagua village got married to Abdul Jalil of Bhottabari village of the upazila in May last year.

On November 30, 2018, just after six months of marriage, her body was recovered from her in-laws house.

Kuddus filed a murder case at Madhupur police station on December 4 accusing Kamrunnahar’s husband, father-in-law, mother-in-law and brother-in-law.

Kuddus also mentioned his daughter was murdered and her body was hung from a tree to make her death look like suicide.

Police arrested the accused and they were later sent to jail.

Kuddus also alleged that the accused were threatening to kill him after they got out on bail and that they also influenced the doctors concerned to alter the results of the first autopsy.
