3 sued for ripping off female UP member’s earlobe

Three, including a UP chairman, have been sued for assaulting a female UP member.

On March 27, Umarpur UP Chairman Abdul Matin, and UP Members Arfan Ali and Helal Uddin Lalon, attacked UP Member Aleya Khatun after she complained to the local UNO about irregularities in VGD card distribution.

The attackers ripped off her earlobe, forcing hospitalization due to severe loss of blood.

Aleya’s son, Milon Pasha, filed a complaint  with Sirajganj court, which took the matter into cognizance and instructed the Chauhali police station to treat it as a case immediately.

The three attackers were named in the case.

Following the attack, the local police and the UNO were reported to have been quiet about the incident, despite its notoriety, which caused a stir among locals and the media.

Earlier, both the UNO and the officer in charge of the Chauhali police station, refused to discuss the matter, saying there was  no complaint filed.
