US ambassador to Bangladesh Earl R Miller has tasted kalai roti during a visit to Rajshahi, to better understand the culture, tradition and food of the region.
The US ambassador went to Rajshahi on a two day visit to promote US educational and cultural exchanges, economic engagement, and law enforcement cooperation. His tour ended on Friday.
Kalai roti is a delicacy in Rajshahi and has been commercially available in the city for years. The ambassador had asked to taste popular food of the region to better understand Rajshahi’s traditions, and was brought the delicacy as a result.
Earlier on Thursday, the US ambassador was greeted by Rajshahi City Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton during a courtesy call on Nagar Bhaban.
The mayor wished for collaboration between the US and Bangladesh in the sectors of education, communication, health, industrialization at the meeting.
