Family of three dies, presumably from food poisoning in Naogaon

A man, his wife, and their three-year-old daughter, presumably died from food poisoning in Mahadebpur upazila of Naogaon on Saturday.

The deceased are Arjun Kumar, 32, his wife Tithi Rani, 25, and their three-year-old daughter, Ananya.

The family suddenly fell severely ill and were admitted to Mahadebpur Upazila Health Complex on Friday night.

Subsequently, Ananya died in the early hours of Saturday. Later, Arjun and Tithi also passed away, undergoing treatment at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital and Naogaon Sadar Hospital respectively.

Tithi Rani’s mother, Jamuna Rani, said: “On Friday night my daughter, granddaughter, and son-in-law, had home cooked dinner but also had yogurt for dessert, bought at the local market. The yogurt was likely the cause of their untimely death.”

Mahadebpur police station OC, Sazzad Hossain, said: “The autopsy has been completed and the bodies have been handed over to the family.”

Additional Superintendent of Police, Rakibul Akter, said: “After speaking with relatives and neighbours we suspect they were victims of food poisoning but we’ll be sure after getting the autopsy report.”
