Regarding the March 18 Baghaichhari attack in Rangamati, the administration has promised to provide jobs and other facilities based on merit, for family members of the slain victims.
Chittagong's 24th Infantry Division general officer in command (GOC), Major General SM Motiur Rahman, said this handing over financial assistance to family members of the deceased on Wednesday at the Baghaichhari Marisha Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) Zone ground.
He said, according to the eligibility of the families of those who have been injured or killed in discharging official duties, the government will provide jobs and assistance in other sectors as well as the army, police, BGB, and Ansar.

He said: “Law enforcement agencies and the administration have a zero tolerance policy against those who want to resist the development of the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) and communal harmony.
The operation of the joint forces has been extended to seek out all those involved in the terrorist activities of the Chittagong Hill Tracts, including the Baghaichhari killings, till March 29.
Chittagong Divisional Commissioner Abdul Mannan said, the government is sincere in preserving the interests of small ethnic groups.
Chittagong Division's DIG, Khandaker Golam Faruk, Khagrachari regional army commander, Brigadier General Hamidul Haque, Rangamati Deputy Commissioner AKM Mamunur Rashid, Khagrachhari BGB sector commander Colonel Gazi Mohammad Sajjad, Rangamati Police Superintendent Alamgir Kabir, and Khagrachhari Police Superintendent Ahmar Uzzaman were present, among others.

Earlier, senior officials from the Chittagong Divisional commissioner’s office, and the GOC of Chittagong 24 Infantry Division, visited the spot of the attack in the Bagtala area on the Baghaichhari-Dighinala road.
On March 18, seven people including two assistant presiding officers, and four Ansar men were shot dead, and at least 26 others were injured, in a gun attack on a motorcade of election officials.
The officials were engaged in election duties at three polling centres in the upazila, during voting in the second phase of the upazila polls.
