At least three local leaders of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) were hacked by unknown miscreants after paying tribute at a memorial adjacent to the old bus stand in Faridpur.
The incident took place around 7am yesterday, Kotwali police station Officer-in-Charge FM Nasim confirmed.
The victims were BNP’s Faridpur district unit Senior General Secretary Sayed Zulfikar Hossain Jewel, Joint Secretary Modarres Ali Isa, and former general secretary AK Kibria Swapan.
Of them, Zulfikar’s condition was critical.
The party’s district unit leaders blamed the local Awami League leaders and activists for the attack.
