5 platoons of BGB troops were deployed on Tuesday (March 26) to prevent electoral violence in Mathbaria upazila of Pirojpur.
After March 28, in other upazilas of Pirojpur, BGB will be deployed. The deputy commissioner of Pirojpur, Abu Ali Md Shazzad Hossain, confirmed this.
On Saturday night, March 23, supporters of Awami League chairman candidate, Hossain Mosharraf Saku, attacked Alauddin Talukder, a supporter of Awami League rebel chairman candidate, Riazuddin.
In return, supporters of Riazuddin hacked Saku and his supporter, Gulishakhali union parishad chairman Riazul Alam in retaliation.
After these incidents, agitation increased between the two groups in enmity
At 9am on Monday, March 25, Jony Talukdar, vice president of Awami Swecchasebak League and supporter of Riazuddin, was standing near the house of Alamgir Mia from Kabutarkhali of Gulishakhali Union, when 25 miscreants attacked him.

Jony tried to run away and fell into a ditch. The miscreants hacked him indiscriminately.
After being informed by locals, Mathbaria police rescued him and sent him to Mathbaria Upazila Health Complex.
After his health deteriorated at the health complex, he was sent to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College in Barisal. Jony died in hospital at 1 pm that day.
Superintendent of police of Pirojpur Zilla, Md Salam Kabir, and other senior police officials visited the site of Jony’s murder.
He said to journalists: "No person involved in this Jony murder will be allowed to go free." He also said the upazila elections in Mathbaria on March 31 would be peaceful and fair.
Meanwhile, Jony's uncle, Md Swapan Talukdar, filed a case with Mathbaria police station on Monday night, March 25, against 35 people and 30 other unnamed persons.
