A farmer has been killed by his drunken neighbour for playing loud music during a wedding in Sirajganj.
The incident took place when the accused Jhangir, in an intoxicated state, hacked his neighbor—Madhu Pramanik, 40—to death for playing loud music; at Madhu’s cousin’s wedding, in Potajia village of Shahjadpur union on Tuesday night.
Madhu was admitted to Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnessa Mujib General Hospital where he died in the early hours of Wednesday.
The victim’s brother Abdul Matin said: “A huge quarrel first broke out with another neighbor named Jahurul about the loud music at our cousin’s wedding.”
“Later, Jahangir came to the house and took the matter into his hands by hacking up my brother.”
Shahjadpur police station OC Khaja Golam Kibria said: “The victim’s body was sent to the morgue for an autopsy. A murder case has already been filed and police are investigating the matter. Jahangir and the other accused, are absconding at the moment.”
