A local leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League has been hacked to death by unidentified miscreants in Taura village of Rupganj upazila.
The deceased identified as Sohel Mia, 28, was the publicity secretary of Bholabo union unit Chhatra League and son of Mojibor Rahman.
Police has arrested four suspects for interrogation. They are: Siraj, Majibur, Hasan, and Yusuf; all friends of the victim.
Confirming Thursday's attack to the Dhaka Tribune Mahmudul Hasan, officer-in-charge of Rupganj police station said: "A group of miscreants swooped on Sohel when he was returning home from Taura Bazar and stabbed him multiple times.
"The veins on both of his legs were also cut; which left him critically injured."
"Two weeks prior, cases of extortion and women abuse were filed against Sohel. We suspect that he has been killed because of prior enmity."
"The body has been sent to Narayanganj General Hospital for autopsy. Necessary steps will be taken upon further investigation," he added.
