13 shops gutted in Chittagong fire

As many as 13 businesses were gutted in a fire at Mirsarai upazila in Chittagong.

The fire originated from an electric short circuit at Mirsarai College Bazar early on Friday.

The incident did not lead to any casualties.   

Upon receiving information, five vehicles of three fire stations responded to the scene and brought the blaze under control, after four hours,at 4:10am.

The fire gutted drug stores, confectionaries, plus grocery and laundry shops.

Inspector Rabiul Azam of Mirsarai Fire Station said: "Thirteen shops were gutted in the fire which occurred around 12:30am. The fire originated from an electric short circuit."

The fire is estimated to have damaged Tk15-lakh’s-worth of goods and assets.
