The Inspector General of Police (IGP) on Wednesday told police that the stations should be the center point of service.
“Equal service will be provided to people from all walks of life. Our police station has to be the center point of service,” Dr Mohammad Javed Patwary said at an event on the third day of Police Week 2019.
Handing out badges to members of the law enforcement agency for the exemplary service to the community, the IGP said: “People want service, security and a stable environment from the police. They expect services with dignity and rights. We have to be 100% people oriented.”
IGP gave 514 police from the Rajarbagh police line the “IGP Exemplary Good Service Badge” at the event.
The badges were given to police officials for successfully countering the smuggling of arms, drugs, and goods in 2018.
IGP Javed Patwary congratulating the winners said: “This award recognizes your dedication and good work. This is the first time that cash reward of Tk 20,000 has been given with the badge.”
There he also told them that the police is an important partner in implementing Prime Minister's Vision 2021 and Mission 2041.
“We have to work as genuine servants of the people holding the spirit of freedom to protect the country's law and order. To implement the Prime Minister's vision and mission 2021 and 2041, we have to be important partners in implementing it,” he added.
Police Week 2019 began across Bangladesh on Monday, with the theme "build police-people unity, eliminate drug-militants.”
