A seven-year old girl was raped reportedly by her neighbour at the Sadar upazila’s Bou Bazar area in the district on Monday.
The girl, a student of second grade at a local school, has been admitted to the Narsingdi Sadar Hospital, while her father filed a case at Narsingdi Sadar Model police station.
Her family members said that after getting back from school on Monday afternoon, she was forcibly taken from their courtyard by her neighbour Uttam Das, who raped her in his room.
She returned to tell her mother, who took her to the hospital in critical condition.
The doctor on duty at Narsingdi Sadar Hospital, Rozi Sarkar, said the girl has been admitted and the medical tests to confirm the rape will be held soon.
Narsingdi Sadar Model police station OC Md Syeduzzaman said the victim’s father filed a case under the Women and Child Repression Prevention Act and the search to find the accused is underway.
