The Rajshahi University (RU) authorities have formed a committee to engage in dialogue with student bodies about holding the Rajshahi University Central Students’ Union (Rucsu) election.
RU Vice-Chancellor Prof Abdus Sobhan formed a four member committee on Sunday, which will be led by university Proctor, Prof Lutfor Rahman.
The proctor said: “We will make a list of registered student bodies and invite them for dialogue within this week.
Other members of the committee are, Student Adviser Prof Laila Arjuman Banu; Rucsu Treasurer Prof Mir Imam Ibne Wahed, and Assistant Proctor Abu Sayeed Md Nazmul Hayder.

Due to the absence of a committee, Rucsu has been defunct for the past 29 years.
Following the announcement of a Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (Ducsu) election, the issue of a Rucsu committee has again come under the spotlight.
Prof Laila said: “After the primary dialogue is done, we will convey the outcome of the meeting to the higher authorities of the university and then the VC will sit with the representatives of student bodies.”
When asked whether Chhatra Dal would be invited, she said: “Yes they will be invited but anti liberation forces will not be allowed in it.”
