2 police officers stabbed in Chittagong

Two police officers were stabbed during a drive at Rangiaghona in the Banshkhali area on Saturday while arrest an accused, leaving them injured.

The injured are assistant sub-inspectors Pradip Chakrabarty, 32, and Nur Nabi Tipu, 37, of Banshkhali police station, reports UNB.

Chittagong Medical College Hospital police outpost in-charge Zahirul Islam said a police team conducted a drive at the house of Jamir Uddin, an accused in an attempted murder case, around 12pm.

However, family members obstructed law enforcement during their operation, he said.

At one point, Jamir's mother Shamsunnahar stabbed Pradip in the neck with a sharp weapon. When Tipu came to the rescue of his colleague, she also attacked him, Zahir said.

Police arrested Shamsunnahar following the attack, he added.
