Eden College student Putul’s killer arrested

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have arrested a fugitive death-row convict, who slaughtered his wife Eden College student Putul in 2013, from Satkhira district.
The elite force members were tipped-off about the fugitive convict, Md Mahmudul Alam Sikder, and arrested him from Satkhira bus stand area, confirmed Lt AMM Zahidul Kabir of RAB 6.
Sikder, 33, son of late Shamsul Alam Sikder from Udaypur Daibakandi village of Mollahat in Bagerhat, slaughtered his wife Sharifa Begum Putul, 22, three days into their marriage on May 13, according to case records.
The convict was arrested after Putul's father filed the case with Mollahat police. But he secured bail and went into hiding later on April 8, 2016.
After examining witnesses and evidences, the court of Bagerhat District and Sessions Judge sentenced the fugitive man to death on May 12, 2016.
