One person has been killed near the Haripur border area in the Thakurgaon district.
Local police recovered the body from the shores ofthe Nagar River nearthe Bangladesh -India border area in the Haripur upazila of the Thakurgaon district on Tuesday around 3pm.
The deceased has been identified as Nijarul Islam, 35, son of Ali Hossain ofthe Kismat union'sMednisagor village.
Haripur police station Officer-in-Charge Md Amiruzzaman has confirmed the incident and said: "We have recovered the body. The deceased had multiple wound marks all over his body; although they are not bullet wounds. We have sent the body for autopsy. Necessary steps will be taken upon further investigation."
When asked about the incident GeduraUP Chairman Abdul Hamid said: "Nijarul was a resident of my area. I heard that he went to India. Weare suspecting thatthe Border Security Force (BSF)men killed him in India and then left his body in Bangladesh."
When contacted regarding this incident Thakurgaon 50-BGB Lt Col Tuhin Md Masud said: "We are not sure if BSF is responsible for this death. We are investigating all the possible outcomes."
