A Jubo League was hacked to death while two others sustained injuries during an intra-party brawl at Sitakunda upazila in Chittagong.
The deceased identified as Daud Samrat, 38, was president of No4 Madhabpur Ward under Chittagong‘s Sitakunda upazila.
The clash reportedly ensued between the supporters of newly-elected member of parliament Didarul Alam and Sitakunda upazila Chairman SM Al Mamun, also the president of Chittagong north district chapter of Juba League, on Monday afternoon.
Daud was a follower of Mamun.
ASI Aluddin Talukder of Chittagong Medical College Hospital police outpost said the on-duty doctor pronounced Daud dead after he had been brought to the hospital at 5pm.
Delwar Hossain, officer-in-Charge of Sitakunda poliuce station said that a man died after the two rival groups locked in a feud over establishing supremacy in the locality.
"We are conducting drives to arrest the perpetrators,” said the OC.
According to police sources, Daud was accused in 21 different cases including murder.
