A police vehicle carrying Chuadanga Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Abu Rasel came under attack around 9pm on Sunday, police confirmed.
An attacker hurled a bomb at the vehicle when it reached a refuelling station in Darshana on Chuadanga-Jibannagar Highway.
The suspect, identified as Titu, was shot by police when he tried to flee the scene after the attack, police further added.
ASP Rasel said two suspects, on a motorcycle, aimed and threw a bomb at his vehicle, which damaged the right side of his car.
Later during a press briefing, Chuadanga Superintendent of Police Mahbubur Rahman said the attackers had planned something big, but failed in their execution.
Titu was taken to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital, where the doctors said his injuries were extensive and referred him to be taken to Dhaka for better treatment.
