Police have arrested a Jubo Dal activist for posting a caricature of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Facebook, the social media website.
Bagha upazila Jubo Dal activist, Swapan Ali, 30, was arrested in front of the upazila parishad, in Rajshahi district, at around 8pm, on Friday.
According to Bagha police station Officer-in-Charge Mohasin Ali, on the basis of allegations of Bangladesh Chattra League (BCL) leaders, the police arrested Swapan.
He also said that a BCL leader named Fakhrul Hasan Biplob had filed a case against Swapan in which he was shown arrested. Later, on Saturday, he was produced in court and subsequently sent to jail.
Swapan has been posting caricatures on Facebook for a long time. Last Thursday, he posted the caricature of Hasina on his profile, he added.
