AL leader's slit-throat body found in Bogra

An Awami League leader’s body with his throat slit has been recovered from Adamdighi upazila in Bogra.

Police recovered the body from a paddy field in Kanchanpur village of the upazila on Saturday and sent it to Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical for an autopsy.

The deceaded was identified as Nazrul Islam, 55, publication secretary of Chapparpur union Awami League, and the son of Sakhin Ali of Mandripur village.

According to family members, Nazrul went to Chapparpur market on Friday evening with his son and sent him home after grocery shopping but did not return himself.  Later, around 11am Saturday, local farmers found his body lying in the paddy field.

Nazrul also leased ponds and did fish farming .

OC Monirul Islam of Adamdighi police station has confirmed the news. 

“There were two cases against the deceased under the Drugs Act. We are investigating the reason for his murder at the moment,” the OC said.

No cases were filed till Saturday evening. 

However an individual has been brought to the police station for interrogation.
