A woman was killed after her father was shoved out of a running bus in Dhaka’s Ashulia on Friday night by transport workers.
The body of Zarina Khatun, 45, was recovered from Moragang area on the Abdullahpur-Baipail Highway around 11:30pm.
Police and Zarina’s relatives said she had gone to Ashulia’s Gazirchat area with her father Akbar Ali Mondol to visit her daughter. On their way back to Tangail, they had an altercation with the bus driver, his assistant and the vehicle’s supervisor.
The transport workers beat them up and at one stagethrew Akbar out of the bus from the Ashulia bridge around 8pm.
Akbar contacted police shortly.
A police patrol team followed the bus route and found the body of Zarina.
Ashulia police station Officer-in-Charge Jabed Masud said Zarina’s son-in-law has filed a case.
“We are trying to identify the bus driver, his assistant and supervisor involved in the incident,” he added.
