The Tagore Lodge Protection Committee organized a human chain in front of NS Misson Road School in the town on Tuesday demanding the protection of the lodge, the ancestral house of Nobel laureate poet Rabindranath Tagore in Kushtia.
Participated by 27 cultural organizations of the district, Sayeda Habiba, secretary member of the committee, presided over the event.
Among others, Advocate Lalim Haque, Kushtia Rabindra Sangeet Sammelon Parishad General Secretary Ashok Saha, Tagore Lodge Protection Committee Convener Alam Ara Jui, Poet Kanak Chowdhury, Kushtia district unit Udichi President Gopa Sarker and Nabarupe Jago Sahitto Asor President Mohit Gobinda spoke on the occasion.
They said the Archeology department recently made a declaration that the lodge would be acquired soon.
If it is acquired, the lodge will lose its beauty as it will be open for visitors from 10am to 5pm.
They urged the government to protect the ancestral house of Nobel laureate poet from any kind of disbanding.
Tagore Lodge located at Mohini Mills, Kushtia Sadar, Kushtia, is a tourist attraction.
