Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have detained 21 people – including men and women, as well as five children – for illegally entering Bangladesh through Benapole border.
They were detained around 8am on Tuesday by the members of the Putkhali BGB camp of the Benapole port police station.
BGB 21 Putkhali Camp Commander Subedar Munshi Lablur Rahman told the Dhaka Tribune: "On a tip-off, we heard some people were entering Bangladesh’s borders illegally from India."
He said a BGB force, led by him, conducted a raid and detained eight men, eight women, and five children for trespassing. All of them hailed from different regions of the: Jessore, Khulna, Bagerhat, and Barisal districts.
No human traffickers were arrested by BGB during the raid.
