A drug trafficker named Haidul Farazi (24) was killed in a gunfight between Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and drug smugglers on Monday.
The alleged gunfight took place around 4am near the Jamalpur border under Pragpur union of Kushtia.
The deceased was identified as Haidul Farazi, 24, son of Habu Faraizi of Jamalpur village.
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) 47 Battalion captain Lt Colonel Rashed Khan confirmed the incident and said on Monday night at around 3:40am, a group of 10-15 people were entering Bangladesh from India with drugs next to the Border Pillar No 152.
Police recovered one firearm, five bullets, eight packets of cannabis and several bottles of phensidyl from the spot.
The police are preparing to send the body to the morgue for postmortem.
