Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq has said transport workers who are observing a countrywide strike have a poor understanding of the new Road Transport Act.
“The new law on one hand, will be helpful in lowering the number of road accidents. For drivers who operate with care and caution the law is actually beneficial,” he told reporters after inaugurating the second orientation course for newly-joined judges of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunals at the Judicial Administration Training Institute (JATI) in the capital ON Sunday.
“There is no provision in the act that will put them in trouble without committing any mistakes,” he said.
Presided over by JATI Director General Justice Khondker Musa Khaled, the function was also addressed by Law Secretary Abu Saleh Sheikh Md Zahirul Haque.
While replying to a question on the recent remarks of the Jatiya Oikya Front leader Dr Kamal Hossain, the law minister said the Awami League government never violated the constitution, adding: “in spite of this, if I ever have to appear before court for violating the constitution, I will do that.”
Talking about the Digital Security Act, Anisul Huq said: “This act was not formulated to violate freedom of media, speech or any other form of freedom, it is only meant to ensure cyber security.”
