Home minister: Drives against drug traders to continue

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan has said the law enforcers’ drives against drug traders will continue until narcotics trade is completely eliminated from the country.

The minister made the remarks on Saturday while visiting four wounded Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) members at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH), reported UNB.

Earlier on Thursday night, a suspected drug trader was killed and four RAB personnel including the Deputy Director of Rab-7 Feni camp were injured in a reported gunfight at Muradpur in the Panchlaish area of Chittagong.

The minister said, “Though four RAB members were injured during an operation, their mental strength has not been shattered, rather revived. All who were involved in the attack have already been identified.”

“The man who died yesterday (Friday) was a top drug trader. Drives are on to arrest the other gang members,” he added.

RAB Director General Benzir Ahmed and other senior officials were also present at the time, among others.
