Suspected drug trader killed in Jhenaidah 'gunfight'

A suspected drug trader has been killed in a reported gunfight between two gangs of drug traders in Jhenaidah.

The incident took place in Boluhor's Dakat-tola field area of Kotchandpur upazila around 3am onSunday.

The deceased, Selim, 42, was son of Nur Islam from the upazila's Kashipur area.

Kotchandpur police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Biplob Kumar Saha told the Dhaka Tribune: "On information of the gunfight, we went to the spot and recovered the body of Selim."

He said, police also recovered a one shooter gun, two rounds of bullets, 40 phensedyl bottles, 300 yaba pills, four mobile phones and a private car from the crime scene.

OC Biplob said: "We believe the gunfight was instigated because of a dispute regarding distribution of drug trading money." 

The body has been sent to Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital for autopsy, he added.
