Bogra MP faces protest for exclusion of FF names

They brought allegations of nepotism against local MP (Bogra 5 constituency) Habibur Rahman, who led the scrutiny on primary freedom fighters’ list for Sherpur and Dhunat upazilas. The scrutiny committee completed their work on February 11. The recommended list was published on Tuesday excluding 255 of the 326 primarily listed names. But some popular freedom fighters, including district unit Awami League General Secretary Mujibur Rahman Mojnu and Liberation War organiser and senior journalist Aman Ullah, found that their names had been dropped. They besieged the local Muktijoddha Sangsad office and brought out a procession in the morning protesting the move. Mujibur told the Dhaka Tribune that his name had been dropped because of the MP’s “political rivalry and personal vengeance.” Meanwhile, the freedom fighters of Dhunot upazila held a press conference protesting the publication of the recommended list. Lawmaker Habib denied the allegations, claiming that they had scrutinised the list as per the rules, and any omission could be reported to the authorities concerned.
