A driver assistant of a minibus has been detained for allegedly pushing off a man from the moving vehicle in Chittagong’s City Gate area.
The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) detained 23-year-old Md Manik Sarkar from Ramgoti upazila of Laxmipur on Saturday.
PBI Inspector Santosh Chakma told the Dhaka Tribune: “Acting on a tip-off, we conducted a drive in Ramgoti upazila and detained Manik.”
Police sources said following a quarrel over bus fare, the helper pushed Rezaul Karim Roni off the minibus on August 27. The 35-year-old businessmen died after being crushed by the bus.
Later, Rezaul’s uncle filed a case against driver Didarul Alam, 35, and helper Manik Sarkar, with Akbar Shah police station, accusing the duo of murder.
