2 burned alive in Khalishpur Meghna oil depot fire

At least two people have burned to death and nine others suffered burns, after a fire broke out at the Meghna oil depot in Khulna.

The accident happened at Khalishpur on Monday morning.

Confirming the news Khalishpur police station OC Sardar Mosharraf Hossain said two bodies were recovered from the scene.

She said the fire broke out in the morning, leaving  twopeople dead and nine others injured.

Meghna Oil Company's Depot In-Charge Ziaur Rahman said two people were killed in the fire incident. The firefighters rescued the rest and admitted them to the Khulna Medical College Hospital.

The Meghna oil company and local sources said the fire started at the time when an operating nozzle slipped from the hands of a worker while he was filling an oil tanker. Then the fire spread across the entire operating shed.

Khulna Fire Service and Civil Defense Assistant Director Rezaul Karim said the two bodies of the deceased were recovered from the spot once the fire came under control, around 11 am.
