A young man has been shot dead in Khagrachhari’sDighinala’sUpazila by yet unidentified miscreants.
MonjurulAlam, the victim, is a former member of ParbatyaChattagram Jana Samhati Samiti’s (PCJSS)MN Larma faction.
The shooting took place at DighinalaSadar Union’s Pomangpara Government Primary School grounds.
He was killed on the spot.
“Monjurul has 23 bullet wounds on his body,” Dighinala police’s Officer-in-Charge Abdus Samad said. “We recovered 34 empty bullet shells from the spot.”
He said Monjurul had served three months in prison in an extortion case.
The reason for the killing is yet unclear.
Spokespersons for the United Peoples Democratic Front and PCJSS did not respond to requests for comments on the matter.
