Three suspected members of banned militant outfit Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) have been arrested in the Rayerbagh area under the Sadar upazila of Natore.
The arrested include Jahidul Islam, 30, son of Saiful Islam of Gurudashpur upazila; Amzad Hossain, 42, son ofAmir Hossain of Baraigram upazila; and Jahid Uddin, 40, son of Gaziur Rahman of Lalpur upazila.
Natore Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Company Commander Shibli Moshtafa confirmed the matter to the Dhaka Tribune on Thursday.
He said: “Acting on a tip-off, we conducted a drive in the area around 1:30am and arrested them with five jihadi books, mobile phones, and SIM cards.
“However, 10 to 12 of their associates managed to flee the scene when they sensed our presence.”
The RAB officials said the arrestees have confessed that they are members of the JMB.
