Two suspected drug traders have been killed in separate “gunfight” incidents with police in two districts.
In Kushtia, a suspected drug trader has been killed in a “gunfight” with police.
The deceased is Shohor Ali, son of Monowa Bax of Kushtia’s Mirzapur area.
Kushtia model police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nasir Uddin said: “Acting on a tip-off, we conducted a raid on Sheikh Rasel Bridge in Shohortali—around 3am on Monday.
“Sensing our presence, they opened fire at us.”
In retaliation, police fired back—leaving Shohor injured. He was declared dead upon arrival at Kushtia General Hospital.
Five policemen were also injured in the incident.
Police recovered a firearm, three rounds of bullets, and six pieces of yaba tablets from the scene.
The OC said Shohor Ali was a listed drug trader— accused in 12 cases filed with different police stations.
In Mymensingh, a suspected drug trader, named Noman Khan, was killed in a reported gunfight with police; this occurred in the Raghunampur area under Sadar upazila, around 1:45am.
The 45-year-old was accused in several drug cases, reports the UNB.
Two policemen were also injured in the incident, Mahmudul Islam, the OC of Kotwali police station said.
